A recently proposed rule by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) would give Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) full practice authority when acting within the scope of their VA employment. With this new rule, APRNs at VA would have the opportunity to provide primary health care and other services to even more patients. APRNs are clinicians with advanced degrees and training who provide primary, acute and specialty health care. The proposal has drawn the support of the American Nurses Association.
