Service officials responsible for infrastructure recently described for Congress a need throughout the Defense Department for infrastructure reduction and improved funding for military construction. Representatives from all four military services told the Senate Appropriations Committee's military construction and Veterans Affairs subcommittee that budget cuts have harmed mission readiness by delaying repairs and improvements to infrastructure. And each cited a deep need for a new base realignment and closure process (BRAC) to eliminate excess infrastructure. A summary of the testimonies is available on the U.S. Air Force website. A video of the hearing and statements by witnesses are available on the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations website.
