The chief of naval operations testified recently before the Senate Armed Services Committee. Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert said the Navy's fleet readiness likely will not recover from the ship and aircraft maintenance backlogs until about 2018. He said a return to sequestration would further delay critical warfighting capabilities, further reduce contingency response force readiness and jeopardize ship and submarine procurement. A video of the hearing as well as statements and testimonies are available on the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services website at www.armed-services.senate.gov/hearings/15-01-28-mpact-of-the-budget-control-act-of-2011-and-sequestration-on-national-security.
