The Marine Corps has presented a new challenge for Marines on the rifle range: A modification to the second half of the marksmanship program. Marines will still complete table one, which trains Marines on the basic fundamentals and techniques of rifle marksmanship. The following changes have been implemented for table two: (1) keeping up the heart rate; (2) Marines begin qualifying at the 500-yard line then advance towards the 100-yard line, where previously they trained the other way around; and (3) maintaining situational awareness in combat. The modification to table two allows Marines to experience the different types of ranges they may see in combat.
