United Through reading is the recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation's first ever Community Service Award. This award will be presented March 25th. The United Through Reading program is dedicated to uniting U.S. military families who face physical separation by facilitating the bonding experience of reading aloud together. United Through Reading is sponsored by the Family Literacy Foundation and sends DVDs of deployed service members reading books back to their children. Last year United Through Reading served more than 100,000 beneficiaries at nearly 200 recording locations around the world. These numbers include 66 U.S. Navy ships, submarines, aviation and Special Forces commands. For more information, visit the United Through Reading website.
