The Army is giving soldiers a warning about disinformation that can be spread by malign agents through the social network Twitter. According to a recent service news release, soldiers should watch out for fraudulent accounts posing as senior military leaders and other sources of disinformation. As the threat increases, and Russia in particular becomes adept at using Twitter as a weapon, the service has assigned teams to monitor social network activity and is now holding an Advanced Tactical Technology course that covers social media.
