Sailors Sling Lead in 'Killer Tomato Gun Shoot'

Sailors aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan tested its crew-served weapons as part of a "Killer Tomato Gun Shoot" in the Middle East, according to a new video from the Navy.

The video was--  shot by Mass Communications Specialist 3rd Class Evan Thompson and released May 26 by the Defense Department, according to a release -- appears to depict sailors slinging lead on such systems as the M242 Bushmaster is a 25 mm cannon and .50-caliber machine guns.

The Wasp-class vessel also known as LHD 5 is deployed to the region to support security operations and to preserve freedom of navigation and commerce in the region, the release states.
