Emerson Custom Knives now makes a combat axe that is nearly as beautiful as it is expensive.

The prototype axe features a CPM-S7 tool steel blade (marked prototype of course), highly textured black G10 handles, and a Kydex sheath.

“Crucible S7 is a shock-resistant air hardening tool steel, designed for high impact resistance at relatively high hardness,” according to knifecenter.com. “It offers toughness to withstand chipping and breaking, combined with high attainable hardness and good wear resistance.”

The Emerson combat axe has a 3.5-inch cutting edge and a 12-inch handle.

Ernie Emerson was “extremely excited about this axe and he brought only four to the BLADE Show. This is absolutely perfect for a first-time design and we're pleased to be able to offer it to you,” according to knifecenter.com officials.

The Emerson combat axe prototype retails for $1,995.
