Gerber Gear is proud of its new balls of steel.

The balls of steel Gerber officials refer to are those of Gerber's B.O.S.S. Tech - Balls Of Stainless Steel, which they advise give the new Assist-30 the smoothest deployment of any knife they've ever made, going all the way back to Joseph R. Gerber himself.

The made-in-the-USA US Assist 30 is the first new knife they've announced since the release of their 06 Auto 10th Anniversary Edition. It's an assisted opener with dual thumb studs. The blade is made of S30V with a stone washed finish and the handle is manufactured from glass-filled nylon. It's secured with a plunge-lock and cross-bolt safety. There will also be a 420HC version available, or so we're told.

The skeleton style "wireframe" clip on the back of the knife is removable and reversible to give you some carry options whether you're the point up or point down type.

Gerber advises the new folder will be available in November of this year. Find out more about it here.
