Watch-maker Luminox has partnered with defense contracting giant Lockheed Martin Corp. to offer a new version of its timepiece based on the F-22 stealth fighter jet.
The San Rafael, California-based company bills its products as the "watch of choice" for Navy SEALs, SCUBA legend Stan Waterman, coasties, law enforcement divers and other tactical professionals.
The company's timepieces, which are water-resistant up to 500 meters, are known for their inserts of gaseous tritium, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen, which provides long-term luminescence.
Luminox has for more than a decade partnered with the Bethesda, Maryland-based defense contractor to offer creative designs inspired by iconic military aircraft.
Featuring solid titanium cases and slide rule bezels, the latest F-22 Raptor Chronograph series aren't cheap -- the quartz model retails for around $1,300 -- and will likely only attract deep-pocketed aviation enthusiasts. But they're cool.
