Darrel Ralph has designed a new knife kit that allows the build of a designer assisted opening DDR knife with custom precision, quite possibly the first of its kind. The AO-001 is designed so a beginner can complete it.

From the website:

The design of the AO-001 is a pocket-sized fastback flipper with a modern tanto blade grind. The black G-10 handles are 3D milled and feature an excellent grip texture surface. The modern tanto blade has a 600 grit satin finish and is made with AUS8 stainless. All stainless parts are heat-treated and designed to the tightest tolerances. The assist mechanism is tight and opens the knife with a "snap".

This model can be built as a manual flipper or as a fully assisted flipper by using (or not using) the supplied assisted mechanism parts. It is fully functional either way. The locking liner design is strong and secure and features serrations on the contact point of the lock bar. It also features a fully-reversible pocket clip for tip-up or tip-down carry.
