UPDATED: Pentagon Briefing on RFP Set for 4 PM Thursday

Deputy Secretary of Defense Bill Lynn, acquisition czar Ash Carter and at least one other official will be fanning across Capitol Hill Thursday to brief senior defense lawmakers about the imminent draft RFP for the KC-X tanker competition.

And this just in -- there will be a briefing at 4 p.m. for the press: "Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition Technology and Logistics Ashton Carter and Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donnelly will conduct a briefing on the upcoming draft request for proposal for the KC-X tanker recapitalization program at 4 p.m. EDT, in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E973."

Buzz readers who get their hands on a copy or on some notes from those meetings will be rewarded with our undying gratitude, since we're not allowed to offer bribes.

Some of the most telling elements to watch will be those concerning size, range and the weight given to life cycle costs. The RFP should be released Friday.
