Third LCS Set to Enter Service

So, the U.S. Navy is set to commission its third Littoral Combat Ship, the U.S.S. Fort Worth.

The commissioning of the Navy's second Freedom Class LCS comes on the heels of the announcement that sea service wants to buy both the Freedom and Independence class ships. We'll see if Congress will actually allow the Navy to buy them all. Let's hope this doesn't happen (apparently, it was a one time incident not a systemic flaw).

The Fort Worth, set to be based out of San Diego, will be commissioned on Saturday morning, according to a Dec. 1 Pentagon announcement.
