Congress has cut in half the Bush administration's budget for the Robust Nuclear Earth Penetrator -- a nuclear bomb designed to wipe out underground bunkers.Now, $7.5 million will go to the project next year, instead of the $15 million requested, Global Security Newswire notes. Congress also trimmed $4 million off of a $6 million request for low-yield nuclear weapons research, and cut $12 million from a $23-million request for building a new nuclear warhead pit production facility.
