PENTAGON PLEDGES NOT TO USE "TIA" The Pentagon will continue developing Total Information Awareness (TIA), its ultra-intrusive uber-database program. But it won't use the system, a senior defense official told the House subcommittee on terrorism.According to Defense News, Assistant Defense Secretary for Homeland Security Paul McHale said the military would turn TIA over to civilian law enforcement agencies when it is ready for use.Later in the day, McHale added that TIA would also be given to the tooth fairy, the Hamburgler, and Hanukkah Harry."The Pentagon is in the business of spending billions on programs that we have no intention of ever using," he continued. "We do it all the time. Stop laughing."
