Most of the "brand new" military technology being rolled out for the second Gulf War is actually decades old, says StrategyPage. Take "guided bombs," for example. They've been around, in one form or another, since World War II, as Defense Tech dad Tom Shachtman details in his book Terrors and Marvels. Both the Axis and the Allies had radio-controlled bombs. The weapons took out bridges -- and even sunk a battleship.
