Mr. Hoffman seems to have forgotten that Trump has raised millions of dollars for the benefit of veterans. As a veteran myself, I trust Trump far more than I do Hillary. Mr. Khan's loss is very sad, but somehow he has been turned into a puppet for the Democrats. Trump should have been a bit more sensitive to Mr. Khan's loss. But Trump's suggestion that Khan's wife should be subordinate to her husband is line with traditional Islamic roles. I didn't find that to be an insult at all. The firestorm is a fabrication of the Democrats and I don't buy it for one minute.

Thank you so much for your editorial. I come from a big military family [and] we find the actions of the Republican presidential nominee deplorable, insulting and not befitting a commander-in-chief let alone the American people. His acceptance of a Purple Heart from a veteran minimizes and disrespects military members, their families and makes light of the purpose of the medal. No one in the military "wants" or seeks to get a Purple Heart.

There is never a reason for anyone to attack a Gold Star Family. Ignorance drives that. However, these families should not be part of politics. Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump should be ashamed for bringing them into the presidential debate. There are certain things that are sacred to this country and especially to veterans. The flag and the fallen are two of those sacred things and they should never be brought into the limelight this way. It is a disgrace. Instead of dragging veterans through this ridiculous campaign, why don't we redirect our energy to the fact that 20 veterans die each day from suicide, and make a difference that really matters?

Why is Military.com giving Charles Battaglia an open mic? Various charities, watchdogs, the press and Sen. Chuck Grassley's committee have all shown these officials lied and enriched themselves at veterans' expense. The entire board of directors and senior leadership should have been removed and referred to the proper authorities. All of them avoided doing due-diligence. Either they didn't know what was going on, which makes them incompetent, or they turned a blind eye or aided in the scam and fraud. These folks were selfish, unethical, immoral cowards.
