US Marine Accused of Abusing Girlfriend's Children in Vegas

Gavel with a scale and an open book.

LAS VEGAS — Bail is set at $700,000 for a 22-year-old U.S. Marine charged with sexually abusing his girlfriend's 1-year-old daughter and physically abusing the girl and her 4-year-old brother at a Las Vegas Strip hotel.

Alex Michael Plunket remained jailed Thursday in Las Vegas, a day after a judge said that if he's freed he can't have contact with children, must wear a GPS monitor, and has to immediately report to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California.

Plunket's defense attorney, John Parris, says Plunket has cooperated with investigators.

A preliminary hearing is set May 5 on allegations that Plunket injured both children while watching them March 4 at The Linq hotel-casino when his girlfriend went to work.

He could face 35 years to life in prison on the sex assault charge.
