AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Facebook's chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg, is visiting the Air Force Academy as part of her campaign to promote women in leadership.

Sandberg is set to speak to cadets during her visit to the school Friday.

She launched a conversation about the lack of women in positions of power with her 2011 book "Lean In" and founded a nonprofit group to foster small support groups -- "lean in circles" -- to help women achieve their goals.

The Department of Defense is partnering with the group to launch circles throughout the military. In September, Defense Secretary Ash Carter joined Sandberg in one of those groups at the Pentagon.
