Navy IDs Sailor Who Died after Collapsing on Run in Va.


HAMPTON, Va.  -- A sailor who died after collapsing during a training run has been identified.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that the Navy identified the sailor as 35-year-old Chief Petty Officer Anthony Tuff.

Tuff was assigned to the future aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, which is under construction in Newport News.

Lt. Cmdr. Sean Robertston says Tuff collapsed while doing a training run near Fort Monroe on Tuesday. The sailor was treated by Navy medics before being taken to a hospital in Hampton, where he was pronounced dead.

Roberton says the incident is under investigation.
