HONOLULU — Coast Guard units on the Island of Oahu partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to make a teen a hero for the day, Sept. 19-20, 2013.

Donovan Lindo, a native of North Attleboro, Mass., received a firsthand look at Coast Guard operations in Hawaii with crewmembers from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point and Station Honolulu.

Lindo experienced Coast Guard aviation, Sept. 19, 2013, when he flew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter. Following the flight, Lindo was presented with aircrew wings by the crew.

Lindo learned about search and rescue operations by getting underway with Station Honolulu's 45-foot Response Boat-Medium, one of the Coast Guard' s newest assets, Sept. 20, 2013. Under the supervision of an experienced coxswain, Lindo took the controls and drove the RB-M. After returning to Station, the crew presented Lindo with the Coast Guard ensign from the RB-M.
