An Iraq War veteran turned Arizona Cardinals cheerleader was charged with assaulting her boyfriend, police in Scottsdale, Ariz., say.
Police said Megan Welter told officers who responded to a domestic disturbance call July 19 her boyfriend had been the aggressor, KPHO-TV, Phoenix, reported Thursday. However, the boyfriend had recorded the fight on his cellphone and Welter ended up being charged.
Police released video Thursday of their encounter with Welter.
Welter told officers the boyfriend had refused to leave the house. He said he could not go because she had shredded his driver's license.
After serving 16 months in Iraq, Welter, 29, became something of a celebrity by making the move from the military to cheerleader.
Welter was still listed on the Cardinals' website Friday as a member of the cheerleader squad.
