MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. -- As tens of thousands of marathon hopefuls prepare for the final countdown to the opening of registration for the 38th Marine Corps Marathon, the event will host an online movie premiere capturing emotion, energy and the majesty of the annual Marine Corps-organized run held in the nation's capital. Would-be marathoners, friends of the Marine Corps and those who support others on their upcoming quest to complete the MCM are encouraged to view "The People's Marathon," a highly impactful, seven-minute film being released on the MCM website Tuesday, March 26 at 7 p.m., the evening before registration opens.

"For those planning to register and all those who have crossed under the MCM arches, this film beautifully demonstrates the spirit of this event and the fortitude of the amazing collection of individuals who participate annually," says Rick Nealis, MCM director.

With mastery of emotion, tears and grand celebration, "The People's Marathon" profiles the athletic prowess,  patriotism and soulful spirit of many MCM participants including the avid runner and competitor; the first-time marathoner; the war-wounded Marine; military spouses; U.S. Marines and the motivated masses, who participate and those who are spectators.

Registration for the 38th MCM begins Wednesday, March 27 at noon. In 2012, the MCM sold out in record-breaking time of 2 hours, 41 minutes. The 38th MCM will be held in Arlington, and Washington, D.C., on Oct. 27.
