Beginning June 22 customers at the Commissary and Exchange will be able to buy gift cards for both locations at either store.

As part of a new reciprocal agreement between the Army and Air Force Exchange System (AAFES) and the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA), gift cards for either store will be available to eligible customers at both locations.

Navy Exchanges have had a similar gift card partnership with DeCA since 2018, allowing their customers to purchase gift cards for either the Commissary or Exchange at both locations on Navy and Marine bases worldwide, Army and Air Force members can now enjoy the same convenience at their installations.

Exchange gift cards will be available in denominations from $5 to $1,500, and Commissary gift cards will be available in amounts from $5 to $300. Authorized customers must still redeem the gift cards at their respective store or online.

Retirees and disabled veterans are eligible to shop at Commissaries and Exchanges on bases across the globe, however some military installations have access restrictions due to COVID-19, and sometimes have other restrictions due to operational requirements.

A handful of AAFES locations and commissaries offer curbside pick-up. Check out military.com's base locator for a location near you.

All honorably discharged veterans may shop online at any branch's exchange.

This story has been edited to reflect which Exchange systems sell the commissary's cards.
