Zachary Fryer-Biggs

Zachary Fryer-Biggs was the managing editor for news at Military.com from 2021-2025, leading a newsroom dedicated to watchdog reporting for the military community. Zach edited Military.com journalism that was honored with a Gerald R. Ford Foundation Award for Distinguished Reporting on the National Defense, a Joe Galloway Award and a James Crawley Award, along with other awards for investigative and feature reporting.

Prior to joining Military.com, Zach spent more than a decade as a national security reporter, including stops as Newsweek’s Pentagon reporter and as an investigative reporter for the Center for Public Integrity. Zach’s first taste of military reporting came in 2006 for a radio piece on the psychological impact of the constant threat from improvised explosive devices on troops fighting in the Iraq War.

His work has appeared in The Washington Post, The Atlantic, Reveal, Wired, The Daily Beast and other outlets.
