November Commissary Off-Site Sales

FacebookXPinterestEmailEmailEmailShare
Most months, the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) offers special events for those eligible commissary patrons who don't live near a regular, bricks and mortar Commissary store.  DECA calls these events "Guard and Reserve" sales, but I call them off-site sales because I want to make sure that everyone understands that they're not just for the National Guard and reserve components. Somewhat like a case-lot sale, these sales are when DECA, and a somewhat nearby commissary store, bring a truck (or trucks) of commissary products and prices to a location that doesn't have a commissary.  They set up in a gym, or hangar, or whatever big space they can find.  This lets local area retirees, active duty, National Guard, reservists, and their families, to try out commissary shopping without having to drive to the closest commissary location. There are only two sales posted so far for November:

November 4th through November 5th

sponsoring store:  Fort Drum

Camp Johnson Vehicle Maint. Bldg 6

789 Vermont National Guard Road
Colchester, Vermont 05446

November 16th through November 18th

sponsoring store:  Robins AFB

Military Family Support Ctr

1901 Terrell Mill RD Ste 200
Marietta, Georgia  30067

In each posting, there is a link to the sponsoring store.  I strongly encourage you to contact the store to verify dates and exact locations, and find out the hours of operations.  Remote location sales can be affected by weather, operational requirements, and budgetary considerations.  It would be really annoying to travel to go to one of these sales and discover it was postponed or cancelled.

If you don't live near a commissary, it can be time-consuming and even expensive to take advantage of your commissary privileges.  These "Guard and Reserve" sales can help overcome the challenges of distance, and help you make the most of your grocery dollar.

If you've been to a remote location sale, I'd love to hear what you think.
