01 Aug 2013 | Posted by Member 26835147
On March 21, 2013, engineers and technicians at Lockheed Martin Space Systems near Denver tested the solar arrays on NASA's MAVEN spacecraft. Using an air-bearing system for support, the arrays were fully deployed to verify the important event before it goes to space. Once fully deployed, the solar arrays measure 37.5 feet tip to tip and have more than 2000 solar cells.
