Hershel Williams, Medal of Honor, WWII

Moving through intense enemy fire on Iwo Jima on February 23, 1945, Corporal Hershel Williams single-handedly destroyed numerous enemy machine-gun positions with his flamethrower. On October 5, 1945, he was presented with the Medal of Honor by President Truman.
