Battle of Bismark Sea Anniversary

The 71st Anniversary of the Battle of the Bismark Sea Commemorative Service and Lunch was held at RAAF Base Richmond on 06 March 2014. The event served to commemorate the service of No. 22 Squadron and No. 30 Squadron, together with the associated American Forces, in the Battle of the Bismark Sea that took place over the period 02 -- 04 March 1943. The battle resulted in a victory that removed any likelihood that Japan would be able to regain the initiative in New Guinea and therefore threaten Australia.
