Teen Bails Out of Car During Police Chase

Lakewood, OH - Police are searching for a person who managed to elude police capture after a car chase early Tuesday that ended after a car crashed into a cement barrier. The chase began on Detroit Avenue around 3 a.m., lasted less than two minutes and took police down several side streets. Lakewood police released video of the incident Tuesday afternoon. When two teenagers got out of the car at the end of the chase, the 1975 song "Low Rider," by funk band War can be heard emanating from the sedan's speakers. A man called police early Tuesday and said two teenagers pulled into a parking lot in a maroon Chrysler sedan and parked. The man told police that it appeared that the two were trying to steal a black car, a police report said. An officer in a cruiser spotted the car minutes later but the driver sped off when the officer tried to pull him over, the report said. A foot chase lasted around 15 minutes and ended when one of the teens was caught and arrested, according to the report. The other person managed to escape.
