Hutchinson, KS - The Hutchinson Police Department has released video of an officer-involved shooting that left a man wounded (viewer discretion is advised). At 4:14 p.m. Monday, officers were dispatched to 300 E. 10th in Hutchinson for the report of an armed subject. Someone had called 911 saying a man was armed, and the dispatcher could hear someone making threats in the background. Police say Sgt. Josh Radloff arrived on scene at 4:17 p.m. and within seconds was confronted by the armed man. Sgt. Radloff then shot 29-year-old Justin L. Mathews in the shoulder on Matthews' mother's lawn in Hutchinson. The video shows Sgt. Radloff calling on Matthews to "drop the knife". Mathews was taken to a Wichita hospital. He was released from the hospital at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Reno County District Attorney's Office has decided to charge Mathews with aggravated assault, criminal threat and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. His bond is set at $100,000. Radloff, a 16-year veteran of the department, was placed on administrative leave. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating.
