Haul a Hornet for SIDS and Kids

    Haul--A--Hornet for SIDS and Kids', a major No. 3 Squadron (3SQN) fundraiser was held Friday 05 July 2013 at RAAF Base Williamtown. The purpose of the Charity Challenge was to raise money for the SIDS and Kids Hunter Region. SIDS and Kids Hunter Region is dedicated to the elimination of sudden and unexpected deaths during pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood, together with the provision of quality services that reduce the impact of such a death. The event consisted of an F/A-18 Hornet aircraft pulled over a set distance of 50 metres. Teams consisted of six personnel in total with the winning team, No. 76 Squadron 'Pullers' comprising of aircraft technicians, pulling the aircraft the set distance in the fastest time of 27.13 seconds. A record number of 34 teams competed on the day, including a team from the Newcastle Jets with their entire squad in attendance, and four time world surfing champion Mark Richards was a special guest. 3SQN aims to raise over $10,000 for SIDS and KIDS Hunter Region, which will be a record donation amount for a single unit at RAAF Base Williamtown.
