'Rise of the Footsoldier Part II' is coming to DVD, Digital and ON Demand on February 20, 2018. Check out the trailer below.
"Rise of the Footsoldier Part II" is based on the life of football-hooligan-turned-professional-criminal Carlton Leach, whose memoir "Muscle" was the basis for the 2007 cult classic "Rise of the Footsoldier."
In the second movie, Carlton (played by the movie's writer/director Ricci Hartnett) who’s still mourning the loss of his friends, decides to work his way back up the criminal ladder before someone else takes him out.
So, you may be asking yourself why a 2015 sequel to a British crime movie that not many Americans have seen is finally getting a home video release in 2018? Sure it may have gotten Five Stars from Britain's classy Sunday Sport newspaper, but what's the motivation for doing it now?
The answer might be Netflix heartthrob Charlie Heaton. Before he played the moody Jonathan Byers in the sci-fi series, Charlie played "Dealer" in this movie. Based on the trailer, it's most likely not a big part but Charlie is now the lead actor listed on the movie's IMDB page. If Google searches by teenage girls are bringing us more British gangster flicks, that's good news for all of us.
