No More Magazine Sales In OCONUS Commissaries

If you live overseas or are heading overseas, a change is taking place for the commissaries. As of February 2012 DeCA will no longer sell magazines and some newspapers OCONUS.

This is a cost saving measure and these items will still be available through AAFES. This article gives the figures that went into making this business decision.

Sounds like a smart move and as one customer said:

I used to buy a lot of magazines (at the commissary) but stopped about three years ago," said Air Force spouse Niki Gould. "You can see everything online. It’s kind of a waste of $5 or more, depending on the magazine.
