15 September 2017 Military Pay

If you're not staring at the face of Hurricane Irma, you may be thinking about other things, like the upcoming payday.  The next regular, active duty military payday is Friday, 15 September 2017.  Friday paydays that aren't near a holiday are super-simple, even if your bank or credit union offers early direct deposit.  The day of your 15 September 2017 military pay deposit should be pretty easy to work out.

If your bank or credit union does not credit your military pay early, you will be paid at some time on Friday, 15 September 2017.

USAA

USAA credits military pay deposits one business day prior to the actual payday, pending the receipt of pay information from the appropriate agency.  For this pay period, that will be Thursday, 14 September 2017.  Wonder why your pay may be paid at a different time from payday to payday?  USAA's Timing of Military Direct Deposits explains the process and answers those questions.

Pacific Marine Credit Union

Pacific Marine Credit Union (PMCU) credits military pay deposits two business days prior to the actual payday, pending receipt of pay information from the appropriate agency.  For this pay period, that will be Wednesday, 13 September 2017.

Service Credit Union

Service Credit Union credits military pay deposits two business days prior to the actual payday, pending receipt of pay information from the appropriate agency.  For this pay period, that will be Wednesday, 13 September 2017.

Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) has two different pay deposit schedules, depending on which type of checking account you use for your military pay deposit.  Only Active Duty Checking accounts receive early crediting of military pay, always pending the receipt of military pay information from the appropriate agency.

NFCU members who use an Active Duty Checking account will see their pay pending on or before Wednesday, 13 September 2017, to be credited overnight and available for use on Thursday, 14 September 2017.

NFCU members who use any other account type, including Everyday Checking, Campus Checking, eChecking, and Flagship Checking, will see their pay pending on or before Thursday, 14 September 2017, to be credited overnight and available for use on Friday, 15 September 2017.

Not sure which type of NFCU account you use?  You can look at your online account access, give them a call, or stop by a branch.  Those are also the three ways to change account types if you would like to do that - it's easy.

We have a series of paydays coming every two weeks.  Take advantage of this time to build a little buffer in your account for when those longer pay periods come along.  You'll be glad you did.
