This pay period is a long one, and it's got people already asking, "When is payday?" The next regular, active duty payday is on Tuesday, 1 August 2017. Tuesday paydays are probably the most complicated if you use a bank or credit union that offers early direct deposit for military pay. Because of their varying deposit procedures, some financial institutions do have deposits that are available for use on Saturdays, and some don't. It's confusing!
As always, if you don't have a reason to believe that your bank or credit union offers early direct deposit, then you should assume that you will be paid at some time on Tuesday, 1 August 2017. But if you do know that your bank or credit union offers early direct deposit, then you might be wondering, "When will I get my 1 August 2017 military pay in my bank account?"

USAA
USAA credits military pay one business day prior to the actual payday, pending the receipt of pay information from the appropriate agency. For this pay period, that will be Monday, 31 July 2017.
Navy Federal Credit Union
Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) is extra tricky on Tuesday paydays. NFCU has two different pay deposit schedules. Only their Active Duty Checking account offers early direct deposit of military pay.
NFCU members who use an account type that is not Active Duty checking may see their military pay "pending" prior to or on Monday, 31 July 2017. It will be posted overnight and available for use on Tuesday, 1 August 2017. That's not too complicated.
For those NFCU members who use an Active Duty checking account will find things a little less clear. The pay posting process used by NFCU only posts overnight after business days. While the policy is that Active Duty checking customers receive their pay one business day prior the actual payday, there is no way to post overnight from a Sunday. Therefore, the pay is "pending" prior to or on Friday, 28 July 2017, to be posted overnight and available for use on Saturday, 29 July 2017.
Pacific Marine Credit Union
Pacific Marine Credit Union (PMCU) credits military pay deposits two business days prior to the actual payday, pending the receipt of pay information from the appropriate paying agency. For this pay period, PMCU anticipates crediting pay deposits on Friday, 28 July 2017.
Service Credit Union
Service Credit Union credits military pay deposits two business days prior to the actual payday, pending the receipt of pay information from the appropriate agency. For this pay period, Service Credit Union anticipates crediting pay deposits on Friday, 28 July 2017.
Once you've gotten through this longer pay period, use the upcoming more regular pay periods to build up a little buffer to help when this happens again. The next one is at the end of October 2017.
