Teen Told to Return Early Arriving Xbox One

A Texas boy whose Xbox One gaming system arrived before the scheduled release date said he was ordered to return the console and order a new one.

William Derrick, 13, of El Paso, said he ordered the Microsoft gaming console Wednesday through Target and the package arrived on his door Friday, two weeks before the scheduled Nov. 22 release date, KVIA-TV, El Paso, Texas, reported Tuesday.

"I hooked it up and now I'm banned from Xbox live on that console," Derrick said.

Derrick said Microsoft barred him from connecting to the online system through the console and officials told him to return the device and order a replacement.

"I think it's kind of a hassle but I'm OK with it. I don't think it's that bad, I get a new system anyway," Derrick said.

Derrick said it was nice to get a sneak peak of the upcoming system.

"I think it's kind of cool though that I got it early just because well... I'm 13 and I like getting things early," Derrick said.

Target officials gave Derrick a $100 gift card to compensate for the mix-up.
