MINOT, N.D. — Minot Air Force Base says a captain with the 5th Medical Group died after crashing her vehicle into the Souris River in Minot.

Authorities did not immediately release the woman's name. Base spokeswoman Lt. Kylee Ashton tells The Associated Press that the woman was pronounced dead late Sunday.

KMOT-TV reports that the car went into the river near a bridge late Sunday afternoon and became submerged. A police officer, a paramedic and a dive team pulled the woman from the vehicle and took her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Officials did not immediately release the cause of the crash, or the cause of death. The base said the investigation was continuing.
