Officials say people must sign up before Friday for a tour of the Army's largest training installation. The tour will be held on Friday, Feb. 19.
Fort Jackson commander, Maj. Gen. Roger Cloutier, is hosting an eight-hour tour to give local citizens an opportunity to see how soldiers live and train. Visitors will be assigned drill sergeants, learn to shoot a simulator of the M16 rifle and eat lunch with soldiers.
The tour is open to people ages 13 and older and begins at 7:30 a.m. Lunch will cost $5.55.
To register, call Fort Jackson's community relations office at (803) 751-1474.
