Louisiana Marine to Get a Hero's Welcome Home


DENHAM SPRINGS, La. -- A Denham Springs Marine killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash during a training exercise in California will be received in New Orleans on Friday.

WAFB-TV reports from there Cpl. Bryan Lauw's (LOWZ) body will be escorted to Denham Springs and is expected to arrive about 7 p.m.

Friends and family are asking the community to give Lauw a hero's welcome, by lining Range Avenue from Interstate 12 to Seale Funeral Home.

The 21-year-old was part of Charlie Company, 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division. He graduated from Live Oak High School in 2012 and joined the Marine Corps in June of that year. He served as an anti-tank missleman.

Services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Amite Baptist Church in Denham Springs.
