Fort Carson Soldier Gets 2 Years in Prison for Home Arson

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A Fort Carson soldier who prosecutors say burned his Colorado Springs home last year to collect insurance money has been sentenced to two years in prison.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports that 27-year-old Sgt. Jacob Warrum received the sentence Tuesday in El Paso County District Court. He pleaded guilty in June to third-degree arson.

Warren's wife, Kendra, received a sentence of two years of probation in July. She pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit insurance fraud.

Prosecutors say Warrum increased his home-insurance coverage just days before the Sept. 14 blaze, and firefighters found gasoline and piles of burned debris in the kitchen.

Warrum's home was valued at $240,000.
