SAN DIEGO — A woman passenger who suffered a head injury in a fall aboard a cruise ship off California has been flown to San Diego for treatment.

The Coast Guard says the crew of the Carnival Imagination requested assistance around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew flew to the ship 40 miles west of San Diego, hoisted the 69-year-old woman aboard and returned to shore.

A Coast Guard statement says the woman was transported to UC San Diego Medical Center and her condition is unknown.
