Officer Who Blamed Crimes on Twin Pleads Guilty

A Colorado army officer who argued that he was being blamed for sexual crimes his identical twin committed has pleaded guilty.

First Lt. Aaron Gregory Lucas, 32, admitted his guilt in a series of sex crimes Tuesday.

The crimes involved indecent exposure, kidnapping and rape, and the victims were girls ages 4 to 10, The Gazette reported.

Lucas, who is based at Fort Carson, faces a sentence of 20 years to life in prison.

He will be sentenced Feb. 28.

Prosecutors said Lucas wore his military uniform and approached the girls while they were walking home from school or outside their homes.

He victimized 11 girls between 2009 and 2012, The Gazette reported.

DNA evidence linked Lucas to the crimes, and defense attorneys planned to argue he and his twin shared DNA.
