PARIS - French police on Wednesday arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a knife attack on a soldier in Paris.
The man, who is suspected of having links to radical Islamists, was arrested in the southwestern Paris suburb of La Verriere, the Interior Ministry said.
Paris prosecutor Francois Molins was to give further details at a press conference later on Wednesday.
The soldier was on patrol in La Defense shopping district Saturday when a man attacked him from behind with a knife or box-cutter.
The victim suffered minor neck injuries. He has since been discharged from hospital.
The attack drew comparisons with a deadly attack a few days earlier on a soldier in London. That attack is also believed to be the work of Islamic extremists.
