CINCINNATI (AP) — A Cincinnati bell manufacturer is casting a bell designed to honor veterans who have died.

WLWT-TV reports the Verdin Co. facility began making the first bell on Monday. It is expected to be finished in three days.

Nancy Abbott of Denver, Colorado says she flew to Cincinnati to put her husband's Coast Guard belt buckle and his dog tag into the bell's casting.

The bell will eventually be sent to Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. It will toll during veterans' burials.

WCPO-TV reports the Honor Bell Foundation hopes the next bell in the "Honor Bells" program will remain in Ohio. Their goal is to have a bell made for each national cemetery — a total of more than 130 bells.
