China's Panoramic Photo of Moon

China's state media has released a panoramic picture showing the area in which their moon rover, Jade Rabbit, touched down. China landed their unmanned spacecraft on the moon on December 14, and according to the State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence it has begun scientific operations on the lunar surface. The panoramic picture itself was created by placing multiple other images together. Despite their current mission only having just begun, China announced last week that they would be launching their next generation of unmanned moon probe in 2017. China's leadership has placed great importance on advancing the space programme and their President is keen for China to establish itself as a space power. Report by Laurie Blake.
