A pro-government Syrian TV reporter was killed while covering clashes near the Lebanese-Syrian border on Monday. That's according to the Syrian Information Ministry. Yara Abbas was a reporter from the Al-Ikhbariyah news channel. She was killed by sniper fire from the opposition, near the military air base of Debaa in the central Homs province. The Syrian Observatory for Human rights said several members of her television team were also wounded in the attack. Abbas was a common sight for Syrian television viewers. She frequently reported along Assad's forces from the frontline of Syria's two-year conflict. Dozens of journalists have been killed, wounded or kidnapped since Syria's conflict began in March 2011. According to the United Nations, more than 70,000 people have been killed in the conflict.
