USSR Invasion of Afghanistan 1979

In 1979 the USSR invaded Afghanistan and then occupied it to prop up a Communist government there. Their 10 year stay resulted in the deaths of some 15,000 Soviets, 18,000 "loyal" Afghans and 90,000 odd "enemy" Afghans.
