Soldiers and Their Battle Buddies

In the midst of war, a soldier hears a nearby whimper. They pause for a moment, and see an injured, malnourished dog. However, the animal has hope in its eyes. These dogs are a reminder of the soldiers' childhood best friends, as well as their loved ones back home. As the soldier bends down and scoops the dog up, two lives are saved. At this moment, amongst all the chaos and destruction, a bond is formed. 11 dogs were born as strays. They were saved from a life of starvation, torture, abuse, and possibly death. Americans and US soldiers in the worn torn Afghanistan gave these 11 dogs a chance at life. The dogs were saved again, and now get a chance at true freedom.

I'm not so sure we are sending a very good message here. A soldier recently died from Rabies at Fort Drum. Rabies that he contracted while overseas. These animals are more likely to carry the virus than the animals in the states. There is NO cure for rabies. Prognosis = Death. Please stay away from stray animals while overseas and come home healthy! - A concerned vet tech :-/

How true it is when you find comfort in a friend while in a combat arena.

Well instead of banning pets we would have gladly vaccinated them but our puppies were great for morale.
