Just a little old, don't you think! This was from PAX River in 1984 and was a VER (vertical ejecter rack) seperation test. Dummy bombs had no effect at all. Try someting from this century!

yeah it's old but I'm glad it was posted as this is the first of a dozen times I've seen the clip where the event was described, as well as the aircrew's fate.

Super old video and an inaccurate desription of what happened and how it could have been prevented! It was from 1984 and it was a pilot and a photographer, not copilot. You should really take this down so as not to appear ignorant to the facts of the event.

Follow the rules concerning deployment of Bomb. All Airfighter Planes MUST be on the same elevation and 1 Knot away. This emplies that MOST of the Military Officers are untrained, incompetent and FRAUD. Verify Identities of ALL military going in the premise.

Even if the bomb had been live ordnance it would not have detonated upon impact with the A4 Sky Hawk. Not enough time for the fuse to arm.

HAVEN'T THEY LEARNED ANYTHING ABOUT CAMERA PLANES AND DISTANCE. IF THIS WERE THE FIRST TIME THIS TYPE OF ACCIDENT OCCURRED I'D SAY LEARN FROM IT. UNFORTUNATELY THIS EXACT SAME THING THAT HAPPENED TO AN A-4 AT THE PAX RANGE INVOLVING A F/A 18.

I was stationed at Pax when this happened. True it was a pilot and photographer. The weird thing is it was a civil service photographer and it was his first flight. His name was Randy.

Doesn't matter how OLD!! Need to REMEMBER to avoid "relearning a lesson." Think 1966 North American XB-70 Valkyrie AV-2. An F-104 “Widowmaker” chase plane gets sucked into the XB's vortex, strikes the XB with the F’s T-tail, flips over backwards and upside down, to then strike and rip off the Vertical stabilizer(s) of the XB... There goes $4B, a kick-A bomber program, & most importantly two valiant American heroes. -http://area51specialprojects.com/xb70_crash.html -A-7 Aero Engineer & admirer of service vets
